# Operators

## **What operators do**

Operators run infrastructure that: 

1. Serves traffic, either access or backhaul.
2. Produces the operational and performance signals needed for the network to measure delivery over time.

### **Onboarding as an Operator**

1. Bring an existing network, or start with a new deployment.
2. Prepare it for ongoing measurement and monitoring. 
3. Create offers and listings where applicable.
4. Begin serving subscribers and building performance history (See [Subscribers](/connectivity/subscribers.md)).<br>

## **What qualifies as an operator**

Operators include ISPs, neutral-host operators, building operators, and other providers with reliable capacity. Qualification is primarily based on measurability and reliability, rather than size.

## **API integration and setup**

Operator integration covers:

* Deployment metadata and location context where appropriate.
* Ongoing performance and uptime telemetry.
* Subscriber delivery signals needed for reporting and attribution.<br>

## **Operator Economics / Revenue Sharing / Rewards**

Operators earn primarily from:

* Subscriber revenue.
* Selling coverage in the marketplace where applicable.
* Incentives designed to favor reliable and sustained delivery
